Mike Salk Flees Troubled 'EEI For Seattle Gig

Mike Salk
A year ago, Mike Salk was brought in by new WEEI management to replace fired talk legend Glenn Ordway. Now, Salk is leaving his afternoon drive-time gig with Michael Holley to go back to Seattle. Salk will be Program Director at The Emerald City's ESPN radio outlet. Despite being a Massachusetts native, Salk's stilted style never clicked with the quirky Boston market. While he was clearly knowledgeable, his odd speaking style seemed a little too—shall we say—formal for the average WEEI listener. Frankly, he was annoying to listen to and a drag on the talented Holley. No news on a replacement yet. Meantime, 'EEI's rival 98.5 The Sports Hub is wiping the floor with the old grey mare of Boston sports talk.
