In a wide-ranging interview on
WEEI's Hot Stove show,
former Red Sox GM Theo Epstein said he still keeps tabs on prospects in the Boston organization. Said Theo,
"I follow really closely, probably with equal parts admiration, pride and jealousy. I am really proud of what we built...I think in time, it would be a wonderful thing for everybody if, maybe we’ll reach that day when people think of 2011, they think of that draft class, my last draft with the Red Sox." Epstein also talked about the new realities of scouting and drafting—largely the result of the new
Collective Bargaining Agreement—that hamstring current GMs from doing what Boston did in building its current run of success.
