the Red Sox have been "monitoring" the shortstop market in search of a back-up to Xander Bogaerts that might be cheaper than re-signing Stephen Drew. Other reports (Alex Speier of
WEEI.com) suggest that Boston hasn't talked to Drew since the start of camp. So, it appears that the team is set to go with Bogaerts and
Will Middlebrooks on the left side, trolling the market for a lesser option than Drew.
