Red Sox Remaining Patient On Stephen Drew

Drew HR—WS Game 6
According to Rob Bradford of WEEI.com, the Red Sox are taking a 'wait and see' attitude toward free agent shortstop Stephen Drew. While GM Ben Cherington is still leaving the door open to cut a team-friendly deal with Drew, he is in no hurry. Reportedly, many teams are shying away from Drew because signing him means the surrender of a draft pick to Boston. The resultant depression in Drew's marketability could help the Red Sox bring him back at a more favorable price. Drew—who hit .253 last year with 13 HRs—will turn 31 next March. Some reports have The Evil Ones looking at Drew to back-up the aging Derek Jeter. Stay tuned.
