Red Sox Legend Jerry Remy Turns 61 Today

RemDawg With FN Editor In 1992
It's been a tough few years for Jerry Remy. From illnesses to the alleged crimes of his son, life has not been good for the Somerset, Massachusetts native. Remy played seven seasons for The Carmine Hose and amassed a .286 average over that span—also providing excellent defense at second base. In 1978, he made the All-Star team as a member of the Red Sox. But it was after his playing days that he truly endeared himself to Red Sox Nation. Starting as a broadcaster with the legendary Ned Martin, Remy built up a love affair with the fans—to the extent that he was dubbed 'The RemDawg'. Through all of his troubles, that love affair endures. Happy Birthday, Jerry!
