Desperate Mariners Target Napoli And Ellsbury

Headed Together To The Great Northwest?
The Seattle Mariners are desperate. They need to establish a winning atmosphere that will attract attention and talent to the Pacific Northwest. GM Jack Zduriencik is on thin ice—not that any ice actually ever forms in Puget Sound. Still, he needs to create a buzz and—according to FOXSports.com's Ken Rosenthal—he's doing that by going after (among others) Mike Napoli and Jacoby Ellsbury. There is cash to spare in StarbucksLand, and Jack is ready to spend it. If he did land Boston's two top free-agents, it would significantly bolster an offense that has about as much sock as a sock-eyed salmon. Ellsbury might just take the 'bait'—being from neighboring Oregon. But 'hooking' Napoli would be a little more difficult. Maybe they can recruit him with a band of bearded lumberjacks. Sorry for all the lame Seattle references, but it's raining like heck here in Boston today.
