There's no better phrase in baseball than, "The New York Yankees were eliminated from the AL East race". Actually, there is one better: "The New York Yankees were eliminated from the entire post-season." Red Sox fans will have to wait a few days for the latter, but they got the former Sunday night at Fenway as they watched their Carmine Hose smite (and sweep) The Pinstriped Posers, 9-2. Clay Buccholz (11-0) went an uneven six innings—giving up just one run on two hits, but showing spotty command with four walks. Daniel Nava led the way on offense, collecting four hits. David Ortiz, Dustin Pedroia and Mike Napoli each drove in two runs—with Napoli clouting his 22nd HR. Boston's Magic Number to clinch the AL East is now four.
