How Sweep It Isn't: Sox Drop One To Rays, 4-3

Hey, they can't win all 162 games. Boston had a realistic chance to sweep the slumping Rays after tying the game at 3-3. But, the bullpen couldn't quite hold down Tampa and the Red Sox were denied victory number 90. Jake Peavy pitched well enough to win—and survived a wicked shot to the wrist—but the offense was unable to generate quite enough in the 4-3 loss. Stephen Drew, David Ortiz (HR# 27) and Jarrod Saltalamacchia (HR #12) had the RBIs. Boston's Magic Number stayed at eight.
