Will Sox Pursue A Post-Waiver Michael Young?

Motto Of The 2013 Non-Waiver Trade Season
The fact that Phillies third baseman Michael Young has cleared waivers might re-spark interest in the veteran by The Carmine Hose. As the Brock Holt/Brandon Snyder 'solution' continues to not be any solution at all and as Mike Napoli continues his descent into 'the black hole of ineptitude', a right-handed bat like Young's might prove too tempting. The arcane rules that apply to August trades generally make it harder to work out these kinds of transactions. However, the paucity of July deadline deals and the added competition from the Second Wild Cards make August trades more likely this year. And, don't forget, The Great Punto Deal of 2012 was an August transaction.
