Red Sox Lose Wild And Wacky Fenway Tilt, 5-2

(AP Photo/Michael Dwyer)
This one had more bizarre plays in it than any Fenway game in recent memory. Runners thrown out at the plate like it was first base (Daniel Nava and Mike Carp for the good guys). A 2-4 double play like you've never seen before (Yankee catcher Chris Stewart making a an incredible diving catch into the stands, whirling and throwing Nava out tagging up from first). A runner thrown out at second where the covering shortstop (Stephen Drew) slid more than the runner. Unfortunately, Boston was on the short end of most of these plays—wasting another solid performance by John Lackey. Thanks to newly-acquired "lefty specialist" Matt Thornton, Lackey gave up four (rather than two) runs in a 5-2 loss to The Evil Ones. The Carmine Hose attempt to take the series tomorrow night at 8PM.
