David Ortiz passed Harold Baines as the all-time DH hits leader with a second-inning double to help the Red Sox beat the Mariners last night, 11-4. Felix Doubront was again terrific—going seven solid innings and giving up just one earned run. The lefty seems to have put all the early game inconsistencies behind him and has become the second most dependable starter (amazingly behind John Lackey) in the Red Sox rotation. Ortiz ended up going 2-3 with three RBIs—including his 19th HR of 2013. Brandon Workman made his MLB debut in relief, and (on a 3-2 pitch) gave up a solo home run to the first batter he faced. He did settle down (somewhat) to finish out the game. Jacoby Ellsbury was 3-4 with an RBI and Shane Victorino was 2-4 with two RBIs. Both players returned to the lineup after missing action. The Sox and Ms wrap up the series today at 3:40 PM Eastern Time.
