Former Red Sox Catcher Wedge Suffers Stroke
Eric Wedge had suffered a "very mild stroke" after feeling light-headed during batting practice on Monday. Wedge has been released from the hospital, but will miss at least the next three series—including an upcoming trip to Boston. He is expected to make a full recovery. Wedge, 45, caught for the Red Sox in 1992 before being picked up by the Rockies in the expansion draft. He returned to finish his career with the Red Sox in a couple of games in 1994. He has managed in both Cleveland and Seattle. We all wish Eric a speedy recovery.
