Are Red Sox Making Another Blockbuster Deal?

Fresh off last year's mega-deal with the Dodgers (The Great Punto Trade), Boston may be in for another major move this trading deadline. According to the Globe's Nick Cafardo, Boston is still hot on the trail for: starting pitching, relief pitching and a right-handed bat. Short of that, it's looks more and more like starter Jake Peavy will be switching his hose from pale to carmine—particularly given his strong relationship with current Red Sox pitching coach Juan Nieves. Boston is sending a top scout to monitor Peavy's start tonight. If they go the blockbuster route, we could see some of the organization's better prospects go (for an example) to the Twin Cities for a package like Justin Morneau, Mike Pelfry and Glen Perkins. In any event, by next Thursday, this team could look a lot different than it does right now.
