Red Sox Take High School CF In Sixth Round

Doug Engle/Ocala Star-Banner
The Red Sox finally took a player not part of a 'battery' by taking Jordon Austin, a high school center fielder from Ocala, Florida. Austin is 6' and 195 pounds. He's a right-handed hitter with a short, compact swing and good bat speed. He's also shown the ability to hit for power this year. He was just named North MVP in the 35th Annual Florida Athletic Coaches Association All-Star Baseball Classic in Sebring. Over the two-game tourney, he hit a two-run homer, a double, a single, and also collected a pair of walks and a stolen base.
