Sox Are 'Lack-Lester' Again; Fall To Rays, 8-3

Jon Lester—who started the year 6-0—has not won a game since May 15th. It has to make you wonder if there is something physically wrong with the left-hander. Last night, he could not finish five innings—on a night the team needed more—yielding seven runs, seven walks, and three home runs in the 8-3 loss. His lack of command brings to mind the early part of his career, when he struggled throwing strikes. Hopefully, the sage analysis of John Farrell will solve things soon. Boston had little offensive punch against the pitcher formerly known as Fausto Carmona. Mike Napoli knocked in two runs, while Jose Iglesias ran his hitting streak to 14 games with two more hits. The kid is now hitting .449. Alfredo Aceves pitches the rubber match tonight.
