Spiraling Sox Lose Ugly In Tampa; Fall, 5-3

They have now lost nine of their last eleven games. They are 4-9 in the cruel month of May. Amazingly, they are still only three games out of first, but they are falling faster than Maple Leaf season ticket renewals. Staked to a 3-0 lead by David Ortiz's three-run jack, John Lackey coughed up the tie—but was then victimized by Little League-caliber defense. With runners at second and third and two outs, Mike Napoli and Dustin Pedroia played 'Alphonse and Gaston' with a Dome Pop-Up that fell fair around them (see pic). Two more runs crossed the plate. Final score: 5-3 Tampa. Of course, it's tough to win major league ballgames when your teams fails to record a hit after the fifth inning—another feat Boston accomplished last night. That's pretty much all she wrote, sports fans.
