Ortiz: Oblique, Not Shaughnessy, Caused Slump

Red Sox designated hitter David Ortiz—who gave Boston a short-lived 3-0 lead last night—says his earlier slump was due to an oblique injury and not a newspaper column. The column by The Boston Globe's Dan Shaughnessy, dealt with questions about possible PED use by the DH. Ortiz said that he has been dealing with "tightness" in his left oblique muscle since a swing earlier this month in Texas. When asked about sitting out, Ortiz stated, "I've got to play. I've had enough time off."
