Sox Announcer Rish Quits Over 30% Pay Cut

One of the play-by-play voices you may have become used to over the last few years, will not be coming through those airwaves anymore. As reported by the Globe's Chad Finn, Jon Rish, who was a semi-permanent fill-in voice on Red Sox radio broadcasts, abruptly quit the business after being asked by WEEI to take a 30% pay cut. Rish had paired up with mainstay Joe Casitglione when regular Dave O'Brien was off doing his ESPN gigs. In addition, Rish did studio hosting during the broadcasts. Said Rish, "I will say I could no longer justify working for Entercom (WEEI's parent company). It wasn't fair to me and it wasn't workable for my family." No word yet on who will take his place—and at what pay scale.
