After finally resigning themselves to the reality of the
David Ortiz situation,
the Red Sox seem to be heading toward a "DH by committee" approach to fill in for the injured slugger. Manager
John Farrell stated today,
"We envision it as it being a little bit of a rotation. Not to say that one person would strictly be our DH. That's our initial approach." Who exactly will make up that "rotation" is unclear at the moment, although
Jonny Gomes may play the role (at least against lefties). Again, we see this as a perfect opportunity to bring
Jackie Bradley, Jr. north to play left field in this scenario.
