Will Carp Be A New Fish In The Red Sox Pond?

Angling For Carp?
During the off-season, Mike Carp has been discussed as one of the 476 options to play first base for the Red Sox. That talk had cooled until today. The Mariners announced that they have designated Carp for assignment, and the Red Sox are reported to be discussing his pursuit again. Carp is just 26 years old, and is one of those guys who has never fully reached his potential. He was initially a high pick by the Mets, and has "floundered" (sorry) in Seattle over the last four seasons. Nevertheless, he could be just the type of cheap back-up option Boston could use at first base.
