Morse Deal Further Restricts Sox 1B Options

Back To Pound At The Sound
With the news that Michael Morse is headed back to Seattle (where his career began), it now becomes even more likely that the Red Sox will be forced to make a compromised deal with Mike 'What Is Hip?' Napoli to play first base. Morse was the last viable option left for Boston—with every other alternative either internal (Mauro Gomez) or eternal (Casey Kotchman, Lyle Overbay). The rumored one-year deal for Napoli would at least cut Boston's losses, but it doesn't answer two glaring questions: 1.) What happens if Napoli's hip flares up in April? and 2.) Who the heck plays first base in 2014? This whole first base fiasco is a serious black mark on BenCher's record.
