Lucchino Confirms Sox Are In On Josh Hamilton

Red Sox President and CEO Larry Lucchino, appearing on Sirius/XM's MLB Network Radio, admitted that Boston is in on the pursuit of free-agent Josh Hamilton. Lucchino did state, however, that the Red Sox are not going to pursue long-term free-agent signings of six, seven or eight years. Hamilton is known to be shooting for the rough equivalent of the Prince Fielder deal (nine years, $214 million), but the consensus is that Texas restricted the market on the 2010 MVP by refusing to go more than three years with him. So, if the market further narrows, and Hamilton is out there for a while, the Red Sox could make a short-year, big money offer (2 years, $60 million?).
