Well, you could see this one coming a mile away. On Monday,
the Red Sox fired beleaguered pitching coach Bob McClure—who was never accepted by Bobby Valentine. Both men were in an awkward situation—Valentine forced to accept a key coach he knows nothing about and McClure asked to perform for a guy who basically ignored him. Not surprisingly, Valentine's pet "honorary" pitching coach—Randy Niemann—will now formally take on the role. Dysfunction, thy name is Red Sox.
