Decision On Crawford's Surgery In 7-10 Days?

According to ESPN's Buster Olney, Carl Crawford could decide within 7-10 days to have Tommy John surgery this year. Crawford continued to insist that he will eventually need the surgery—despite being contradicted by his manager. Of course, if Crawford has the surgery soon, he could realistically be back in time for 2013 Spring Training. Supposedly, the timing of the surgery will be dictated—at least in part—by where the Red Sox stand in around two weeks. If it's clear they have a limited chance at the post-season, it makes sense to shut Crawford down.
