The Red Sox apparently never took off their hitting shoes when they retired last night. Boston launched another offensive barrage on Wednesday—this time against the pitiful Ricky Nolasco (9 ER in 3.1 INN)—
routing Miami 15-5. David Ortiz hit his 11th career grand slam (18th HR of 2012) to widen the Red Sox lead in the 4th inning, and the Red Sox hit three other round-trippers (Salty, Aviles, Middlebrooks). Felix Doubront earned his 8th win—despite a so-so effort (6 INN, 4 ER). Lost in the onslaught is an amazing 4-5 night by Daniel Nava—now hitting .333. Believe it or not, with Toronto's loss today, the Carmine Hose lifted themselves out of the AL East cellar. And, the division-leading Evil Ones are only 6 games up on us.
