Red Sox Get 40th Win; Trounce Toronto, 10-4

This one was a laugher almost from the start. Almost, because it actually opened in disastrous fashion—with Jon Lester giving up a run after just two Jays perched at the plate. But, Boston stormed back with six runs in the bottom of the first, en route to a dominant 10-4 win over last-place Toronto. Lester settled down, threw strikes and ended up going seven innings and giving up four earned runs. But, perhaps the biggest news was that David Ortiz launched his 399th career home run (#21 of 2012) and struck out mightily in the eight trying for #400 at Fenway. The Sox head out on the road to Seattle and Oakland tonight. Boston is now 40-35—exactly where we said they needed to be at the end of this home stand.
