No Coincidence Between Hitting And Pitching

The Red Sox bats were obviously active again, but they—once again—did not coincide with the pitching. This inability to line up the two basic components of baseball are worrisome. You don't win championships when they're out of alignment. Boston did win big, 11-6—but Clay Buchholz could not enjoy the luxury of a 10--run lead. His seventh inning meltdown was almost as scary as the high-wire act bullpen performances that followed.

Anyway, David Ortiz did his Babe Ruth imitation again—clouting two more home runs—while Darnell McDonald continued to take the maximum advantage of his playing time (3-4, 2 RBI, HR). The compliant A's are in town again tonight.
