Red Sox captain
Jason Varitek told the Boston Globe today that he will retire on Thursday. This marks the second Red Sox icon to hang up his spikes this off-season. Tim Wakefield retired in Forth Myers recently as well. This brings to an end a marvelous career by Varitek—who never played in the bigs with any other team but Boston. He will forever be remembered for catching four no-hitters and putting A-Fraud in his rightful place. We will miss you, 'Tek!
