The Red Sox suffered a major blow to their 2019 pitching rotation yesterday, as it was announced that
Nathan Eovaldi would undergo right elbow surgery today. The procedure will be to remove "loose bodies" in his elbow—identical to the surgery he had last season as a member of the Rays. He missed two months of the season after that operation. The Red Sox
expect that Eovaldi will miss 4-6 weeks this time—but it's likely to be more like 6-8 weeks. You would
think this news would motivate the Red Sox to go out and sign free-agent starter
Dallas Keuchel—but so far, there are no indications of that. Stay tuned!
