Red Sox CEO
Sam Kennedy admitted yesterday what we have
all sensed for a long time: that the Red Sox are not as popular as they have been (even a year ago). In fact, Kennedy told
NBCSportsBoston that the team's
ticket sales are down "a little more than" six percent compared to this point a year ago. You can all interpret what "a little more" means—heck, that could be 10% or more. Kennedy said that the team has sold "about" 2.1 million tickets so far this year. For comparative purposes, at the
end of 2017, they came in just shy of three million tickets sold (2,917,678). Kennedy said the team is uncertain as to whether the drop is due to factors like a slow off-season or is a true indicator of a sagging interest. We'd say the latter.
