He's not supposed to catch
Chris Sale, but a banged-up Sandy Leon made that necessary. Things didn't go well for the lefty ace with his new backstop—Sale went just five innings and gave up seven earned runs. But
Christian Vazquez made sure his starter would
not get a loss. With two outs in the bottom of the ninth, Vazquez launched a three-run HR that capped
a wild 12-10 win. The young catcher went 3-5 on the night and helped send
The Carmine Hose back into sole possession of first place in the AL East. The other offensive stars were:
Eduardo Núñez (3-4, 4 RBIs) and
Mitch Moreland (2-5, HR, 3 RBIs). This was an amazing, memorable, walk-off win.
