Red Sox President of Baseball Operations
Dave Dombrowski has recently 'poo-pooed' the team's interest in more starting pitching. If that's true, today's news is inconsequential. If Boston's
still looking for a starter, then one of their earlier targets is now off the market. The White Sox have
traded away Jose Quintana to the Cubs—and gotten four prime prospects in return. Quintana is having a down season for him (4-8 with a 4.49 ERA), although his strikeout numbers remain solid. Still, the fact that he required four top prospects says a lot about the remaining market of starting pitchers.
