Tyler, we hardly knew ye. Actually, we
didn't know you
at all.
Tyler Thornburg, the big 8th-inning set-up guy the Red Sox traded Travis Shaw (and others) for, is out for the year. The "others", by the way, were:
Mauricio Dubon,
Josh Pennington and
Yeison Coca. Shaw, incidentally, is hitting .299 with 11 HRs. The team announced today that tomorrow Thornburg will undergo surgery to correct thoracic outlet syndrome in his right shoulder. He has never actually pitched for the Red Sox and is out for the balance of the 2017 season. It's unclear when he
might return in 2018. Bad trade. No biscuit!
