At least according to
Baseball Reference (and they
are the ultimate authority on these issues),
not a single MLB player born today (December 16th) has ever suited up for The Carmine Hose. That's pretty ridiculous. Regular
FenwayNation readers have probably noticed that we highlight one Red Sox player birthday every day—and usually there are multiple choices. For example, yesterday (December 15th), we had our pick of
Mo Vaughn,
Haywood Sullivan and
George Stumpf. Today, however, stands alone among the other 364 days. How can this be? What type of cosmic forces came into play to allow for this oddity? Historically, the Red Sox
did sign
both Mike Cameron and
John Lackey on December 16, 2009. But that wouldn't explain anything. It's a mystery!
