While the Red Sox did not make a
big-ticket deal today, top honcho
Dave Dombrowski has made five deals in the last month: lefty relief specialist
Fernando Abad today—along with
Brad Ziegler,
Drew Pomeranz,
Michael Martinez, and
Aaron Hill. Each move filled a specific team need—but the big hole that still remains is in the rotation. However, we should also keep in mind that
Yoan Moncada,
Andrew Benintendi and
Rafel Devers are not walking out that clubhouse door. And
that is a good thing. All things considered, they still have a
chance to contend—although it will be much more difficult without another stud starter.
