WEEI (93.7 FM) is near the end of its 10-year deal to broadcast Red Sox games on their radio network. The last several years of that pact have been a real loser for the talk-radio station—as
The Carmine Hose have
finished last three out of the last four years. Needless to say, if WEEI is to keep doing Sox games,
the new deal will have to be much more station-friendly. And while there is talk of paying the team
nothing (and giving
John Henry all the ad revenue)—a traditional, structured deal like the last one is much more likely. It just won't be one in which the station hands over $17-$20 million a year to the NOG. Stay tuned—
literally.
