Clearly, we are not the biggest fans of the New York Yankees. However, when the team does noble things, they must be saluted. The Steinbrenner family's
Silver Shield Foundation is stepping up to support the families of the NYPD officers slain over the weekend. The foundation will
pay for the college expenses of two sons of officer Rafael Ramos—one, a 13-year old and another currently attending Maine's Bowdoin College.
Wenjian Liu—the other officer murdered on Saturday—has no children. The Yankees have been caring for the families of slain New York City police, fire and Port Authority members for the last 32 years. They deserve the highest praise for their efforts.
