Brock Holt decisively pulled away from the pack in the voting for first-half Red Sox MVP—ultimately garnering nearly four of every five reader votes in the latest
FenwayNation Poll. As the chart shows, Holt ended up with 78%, followed by
David Ortiz at 13%,
Jon Lester at 7% and
Koji Uehara and
John Lackey with 1% each.
No votes were received by
Mike Napoli,
Dustin Pedroia, or
Andrew Miller. Holt finished the first half of the season batting .327. He came to Boston—along with
Joel Hanrahan—in a trade with the Pittsburgh Pirates that sent
Ivan De Jesus,
Mark Melancon,
Stolmy Pimentel and
Jerry Sands to the land of the
Primanti Sandwich.
